Course: Mathematics 3138.001.
Course Title: Real and Complex Analysis 2.
Time: 11:00-11:50 MWF.

Prerequisites: Math 3137 with a grade of C- or higher.
Textbook: Understanding Analysis by Abbott. Also, we will pick some affordable reference for Complex Variables. My course notes will be the primary reference when we transition out of Abbott.
Course Goals: We will finish the material from Chapter 6 of Abbott and then introduce a Complex Variable. We will talk about some of the basic algebraic properties of complex numbers and geometric properties of the complex plane. We will discuss the differentiation of complex functions. We will develop a theory of the integral in the context of real numbers and path integrals in the complex plane.
Topics Covered: Series of functions. Complex variables. Differentiation of Complex functions. Integration of real and complex functions.
Course Grading: Recitation HW - 15%. Our HW - 15%. Quizzes - 15%. Midterm - 25%. Final Exam - 30%.
Exam Dates: Early to mid March. We will settle a specific date well in advance.
Attendance Policy: Attendance is required. Attendance means being on time with your cell phone and other distractions put away. Absences will result in lost points.

The grade "I" (an "incomplete") is only given if students cannot complete the course work due to circumstances beyond their control. It is necessary for the student to have completed the majority of the course work with a passing average and to sign an incomplete contract which clearly states what is left for the student to do and the deadline by which the work must be completed. The incomplete contract must also include a default grade that will be used in case the "I" grade is not resolved by the agreed deadline. See the full policy by clicking here.
