Course: Mathematics 2101.002.
Course Title: Linear Algebra.
Time: MWF 12:00 - 12:50.

Prerequisites: Calc II.
Textbook: Elementary Linear Algebra by Howard Anton, 11th edition.
Course Goals: To learn the basic concepts of linear algebra, and be able to apply them to solve problems.
Topics Covered: Systems of linear equations, matrices, determinants, vectors and vector spaces, linear transformations, eigenvectors and eigenvalues, inner products and orthogonality.
Course Grading: Midterm 1 -- 20%. Midterm 2 -- 20%. Final Exam -- 30%. Homework and Quizzes -- 30%.
Exam Dates: The following midterm exam dates are tentative and subject to change: Midterm 1 -- September 28, in class. Midterm 2 -- November 2, in class. Final Exam -- December 14, 10:30-12:30.
Attendance Policy: Attendance is highly recommended because this is the best way to learn the material. Attendance may be taken into account if your grade is borderline. There will be no makeup quizzes, unless you have a documented excuse for missing class. In that case, you should contact me as soon as you know that you will be missing class to see if you will be permitted a makeup quiz.
Homework: Homework is assigned every week. The lowest homework grade will be dropped. Tentative due dates of homework is posted on Canvas. No late homework.
Quizzes: There will be a 30 minutes quiz every other week. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped.

During the Drop/Add period, students may drop a course with no record of the class appearing on their transcript. Students are not financially responsible for any courses dropped during this period. In the following weeks prior to or on the withdrawal date students may withdraw from a course with the grade of "W" appearing on their transcript. The grade "I" (an "incomplete") is only given if students cannot complete the course work due to circumstances beyond their control. It is necessary for the student to have completed the majority of the course work with a passing average and to sign an incomplete contract which clearly states what is left for the student to do and the deadline by which the work must be completed. The incomplete contract must also include a default grade that will be used in case the "I" grade is not resolved by the agreed deadline. See the full policy by clicking here.
