Course Title: Applied Mathematics.

Prerequisites: Differential equations, Linear Algebra.
Textbook: A Survey of Industrial Mathematics, C. R. MacCluer, Dover, 2010, ISBN 0486477029.
Course Goals: This course is designed to provide a basic understanding of various mathematical tools to solve problems in science and engineering, and to broaden students' awareness of other important topics, not covered in basic mathematics courses.
Topics Covered: The course will cover topics from chapter 6, 9, 11, 12, 13.
Course Grading: 50% homework and 20% oral presentation and 30% written project report.
Exam Dates: A written project report is due at the last class of the semester. Students will give 15 min presentations on their projects during the last two weeks of classes.
Attendance Policy: Attendance is mandatory.

In the following weeks prior to or on the withdrawal date students may withdraw from a course with the grade of "W" appearing on their transcript. The grade "I" (an "incomplete") is only given if students cannot complete the course work due to circumstances beyond their control. It is necessary for the student to have completed the majority of the course work with a passing average and to sign an incomplete contract which clearly states what is left for the student to do and the deadline by which the work must be completed. The incomplete contract must also include a default grade that will be used in case the "I" grade is not resolved by the agreed deadline. See the full policy by clicking here.
